My experience: doing makeup for a wedding

A little over a month ago I had an amazing opportunity to be a makeup artist for the day. An incredible girl that I used to work with got engaged last summer and around February/March she came to me and asked if I would do her makeup, as well as all of her brides maids.  I have always had an amazing love for makeup and all of my friends and family will have me do their makeup for events, but never in a million years did I think I would be asked to do something big and special as this. I said yes without a second guess and began preparing looks for the girls.
The bride and her bridesmaids are not girls that wear makeup on an everyday basis, so I respected that and made sure that I brought out their natural beauty, instead of turning them into something that was not them. Two months before the wedding I met the soon-to-be bride at her house to do a makeup run through. We decided on the perfect look for her: soft pinks, VERY subtle contouring, and delicate rose tinted lips. For the girls I did a natural eye that had a hint of shimmer, rose colored blush, and a light/natural pink lipstick.

When the actual day arrived, I showed up to the church where the group was getting ready. I only had an hour to get six girls looking even more gorgeous than what they already were. The bride went first, she was so calm and just ready to get on with the big day. The best part was when every person walked into the room they were in awe with how beautiful she looked, I was even asked multiple times if I did this professionally (I wish)!

Then came the brides maids, which was a lot easier than expected since they all were getting the same look done to them. Given that none of them really wear makeup, they were all so interested in everything I was putting on them. When I looked at the clock I finished with a few seconds to spare, the girls were then whisked away to get pictures done.

The wedding and reception was absolutely perfect! I would also like to say congrats to the amazing couple and their new life together and THANK YOU for letting me be a part of your big day.

My experience...

Pay: gift card to Starbucks (she did a $1000 wedding, so I told her I would do it for free).

Comfort level: 10/10...Every single person was so amazing and kind that came into the room I was in.

Time spent: around 3 hours in total

Would I do it again? YES, YES, YES!
